Sign Up Privacy Policy Reimagining Cities As cities emerge from the usual traffic jams of pandemic lockdowns, it's easier to imagine an urban environment geared toward pedestrians and cyclists rather than cars. Wired reports that as more people take to the streets and compete for space within a six-foot radius, city planners see an opportunity to permanently redesign streets and open spaces to prioritize cyclists, pedestrians and public transport users (Pandemics may be an opportunity to reshape cities, yr, month, day). Cities are experimenting with temporary measures. For example, many have blocked off some streets to cars, while Berlin, Bogota and Budapest have all added more bike lanes.
